About QueryTracker

Let QueryTracker tell you more about this literary agent. Including...

  • Query Response Times
  • Genres of Interest
  • Preferred Manuscript Lengths
  • The Best Time to Query
  • And More
And best of all, it's FREE.

How it works?

Writers provide data about their query experiences with literary agents.

That data is then compiled into reports showing details about each agent's query history, allowing writers to reach the literary agent that is right for their book.

Why is QueryTracker Free?

QueryTracker is free because it is our goal to collect as much data as possible about query letter results.

To do that, we need as many members as possible to submit their data, and the best way to do that is to make it free.

So please, join us in building the web's largest collection of query data.

Agents, please contact us to make any changes to your profile.

Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.

And NEVER give money to an "agent".

I queried Meg Ruley instead, some months ago (rejection, signed by her assistant), but I may query Andrea with my next novel. I don't have any experience with Andrea but she reps Tami Hoag and I like her work.

Keep up the good work, cterlson!

Very good advice - I am going to take it.

Do you have experience with her? As mentioned, an acquaintance of mine is repped by her, and has done very well.

thanks Zeldamar! Very good to think this one through.

I would recommend you wait a few months, even if you don't do any further work on the other work. But in any case you should take another look at it. You may have learned things you're not aware you learned! Best of luck, in any case. She's a pretty terrific agent.

ETA: Take that advice for what it's worth, 'cause I don't know anything! But I think re-querying too soon could look less than great.

Thanks Zeldamar! This is exactly what I am wondering - turns out, I did get a request for a full today. But I also have another novel, which I have never queried her with. It's actually complete (unless I decide to rewrite it) - so that's why I wonder... when the dust settles and I am still not repped, do I send it to her? Or do I send it, the other novel, to her sooner than later?

I've made the mistake in sending out stuff too fast before. So I am trying to think this one through.
Thanks again!

I would interpret this as any work you submit to her in the future, not necessarily written in the future. In other words, if you're working on another novel now, she'd be interested in seeing it. Proposal generally means non-fiction, so if you've got one of those it sounds like she's willing to take a look. Unless, of course, you sign with another agent in the meantime, and if your book is as good as she says it is that's a definite possibility!

All in all, this is a very encouraging rejection! Good for you, cterlson! :-D
