Nathan Bransford blogs today on writing the perfect query letter by using the MadLibs format.  It makes perfect sense.

Very formulaic, but a good model. I copied it and will use it. It's good for general formatting, but not as a substitute for putting the query in your own words. Just be careful of just filling in the blanks. That won't work.

Just my 2 cents worth.
