What a story this would make!  Paris apartment unlocked after 70 years -- a time capsule from 1940. http://parisapartment.wordpress.com/2010/10/07/urban-archaeology-sleeping-beautys-paris-apartment-discovered/

That must have been so creepy and surreal to walk into it for the first time! It's amazing to me that all of that stuff is in such wonderful condition!

@augusto - haha - so correct.

@ rmgraudi - that Mickey Mouse was truly creepy.

I wonder what the view is like from those windows.

As I understand it, France was divided into two factions during the war: The German side and the French side.  While both divisions were controlled by the Germans, they allowed the French to direct their own affairs (including the round-up of Jews) as long as enemies of the state were delivered to them post-haste and without compunction.  In short, as long as they did as they were told...there wouldn't be any trouble.  So, it's not so surprising the Germans missed this?  I could be wrong though as I'm not that familiar with their history.  But it would make a marvelous story.   Thanks for sharing!
