BUT IT'S SO AMAZINGLY AWESOME.

So, last night, I was bored and decided to talk to some peeps on twitter. One of the people I talked too was Laurie McLean's assistant, who I've spoken to before and is very nice and adorable.

I asked her what her thoughts are on how hard of a sell EF is. I was legit curious and I know her agent reps epic fantasy. Plus, we have had lovely conversations before. She answered back that it would have to be very, very unique now. So I put forth my story, which is an epic fantasy with science fiction elements, dragons as the MCs and doesn't take place in a medieval setting (all of which are true). She asked me if I have queried her agent and I said I have and that I was rejected. Then, she asked me when and I said early Feburary. I wasn't thinking anything of it, simply answering her questions. Then...it happened.

She asked me to do it again.

I HAD to clarify what she meant. Did she mean resend my query?  eek  eek

Yes. She did.

I FLIPPED OUT.  woo

This wonderful and amazing agent assistant gave me a second chance. She said sometimes she rejects queries too quickly and that she wanted to read mine again. She even said she would send my query straight to Laurie. I thanked her profusely and told her I owed her a hug. Thankfully, we are both five feet tall wink2

So, now I am waiting to see what the answer is. Regardless if I get another R, this has enouraged me beyond belief. Maybe my luck is starting to change? Could this mean better things for me are going to happen?

I didn't put this in success stories because I didn't get a full request out of it (yet) or an offer (...yet). I will keep all updated!

Moral of the story: Twitter is awesome and don't count anything out! Strange things can happen at the weirdest of times!

The only way this could be better is if this assistant actually became my agent. I know she plans on becoming one at the end of the year. She seems amazing and so lovely.

Does anyone have any news on Ms. McLean?

Now...it is officially in the hands of the agent. I got confirmation. NERVOUS.

Though, amusing story. The assistant was wondering if it really works to resend a query to an agent a month after they rejected you (serious, someone did this). I was all 'but you asked me too!'--cause I sent my query and was rejected a month ago--but she said she wasn't talking about me  Grin

Honest though. Why resend a query ONE MONTH after getting a rejection?! I understand maybe six months, but just a month?! At least I had special permission!

I think the same goes not just for queries, but also partial requests. Agents are so, so busy if they are somewhat skimming because they're short on time they can really miss seeing the potential in a project.

Here's hoping for good news!
