Yes, yes. Treating yourself can be a good thing, unless it is a 5 gallon bucket of ice cream in one setting.

The big question is...What do you use it for?

For most people, the high dollar models are nothing but a waste of money.  Mac's are nice, but you pay far more money for little gain.  It's like buying a Corvette to dive to work in New York.

I agree, with the others here, Toshiba or Samsung are the way to go.  You can pick up a nice one at Wal Mart for around 350 to 400 bucks.  I work as a mechanic, and having access to the internet for information is a godsend.  It is dusty, gets bumped and banged around, and my Toshiba keeps on running.

Yes, I think I can write my way out of a paper bag.  But, why?  It is warm and safe in here, and I have snacks!

Almost exclusively for internet and writing. I have a desktop for other things with all the needed drives etc. Thats why I didnt get one today. I was thinking I love my netbook, it fits in my locker, and its battery life is great, so maybe I will hold off and get myself something else....diamonds?

Stolen? If it's not nailed down, it's mine.

My Mrs. says you should treat yourself to a pair of Tory Burch, Reva flats. Considering what I've spent on that woman's fetish, the diamonds are probably cheaper. Just saying.  Thumbs Up

A Reva flat better be an apartment on the snooty end of London to be worth more than diamonds.

Tell you what I'd get: A Dunhill deep-bowl pipe with a light Cavendish tobacco. None of that cheap Walmart shit I buy now.

One day...One day...

D! Mi carnale, you only say that 'cause you haven't seen my lovely in those shoes. BTW, I haven't smoked in two years. God, I miss it. For me, a box of CAO Cameroon torpedoes (Cuban cigars are for pretentious asses) AND a hand-hammered copper gila with fine Turkish tobacco. For guests, of course. ~Sigh~

I was going to say, you should come visit the MN renfest. Lots of nice pipes and pipe tobacco there. I'm thinking about getting one this summer, since i'm super jealous of my bro's pipe (also, how cool he looks in his leather cowl while smoking it. Boys and their awesome costume choices...)

F,

I would campaign hard for you getting a gila but that's not really practical for casual carry, (said Captain Obvious).  crazy Still, I wonder if I could slide that past my Mrs. "Honest, dear heart, it's part o' the costume."  Yes Yeah, I can count on that working about the 31st of Neverary. ~Sigh~    Enjoy your books, K.

Back to the original question, MacBook Pro.

Like Dalgara said, I went to Mac and I never looked back.
