Interesting. I've been wondering about that as I work on and work on my query letter. I've had some moderate success. If I work the hell out of my query online and with my writing group and my friends and and and will it stop being me writing in my own voice? However, that could read as though I don't think critique is essential. It is! But all things in moderation, eh? I've had it happen with academic articles where my work has been so critiqued that if I responded to every single suggestion or comment, what makes it mine would be lost.
