Okay, how about this:

Dear Agent,

It turns out the afterlife is just like high school: one big popularity contest.

Everybody else gets a hall pass to a better place because they’ve achieved some higher purpose. But Katie’s too busy watching old B movies and avoiding taunts from her classmates about her mousy appearance. So, she gets a second chance to achieve her otherwise undefined life goal, but that chance expires in thirty days. Once she’s resurrected, alter-dimensional wraiths begin to covet the purchase of her soul, and Katie must make a decision: accept the help cocky afterlifer Martin Krane’s to fight them, which may affect her sanity, or give in to the bogus offers and face an eternity being consumed by monsters.

At 70,000 words, THE DEATH OF ME is a young adult paranormal adventure. I hold a creative writing certificate from San Jose State University and worked as a freelance editor for several years.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Two versions now:

Dear Agent,

Turns out the afterlife is just like high school; it’s one big popularity contest.

Everybody else gets a hall pass to the next dimension because they’ve achieved some ultimate feat. But seventeen-year-old Katie’s too busy watching old B movies and avoiding taunts from her classmates about her mousy appearance. So, she gets a second chance to achieve her otherwise undefined life goal, but that chance expires in thirty days. Once she’s revived, alter-dimensional wraiths begin to covet the purchase of her soul, and Katie must make a decision: accept the help cocky afterlifer Martin Krane’s to fight them, which may affect her sanity, or give in to the bogus offers and face an eternity being consumed by monsters.

At 70,000 words, THE DEATH OF ME is a young adult paranormal adventure. I hold a creative writing certificate from San Jose State University and worked as a freelance editor for several years.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Dear Agent,

Seventeen-year-old Katie Bunny has thirty days to accomplish everything she’s ever wanted. Before she dies. Again.

After a car accident ends her life, Katie discovers that, just like high school, the afterlife is one big popularity contest. Everybody else gets a hall pass to the next dimension, because they’ve achieved some ultimate feat. Except Katie’s too busy watching old B movies and worrying about her mousy appearance. So, she gets a second chance. But she only has thirty days to figure out what her otherwise undefined life goal is. Once she’s revived, a horde of alter-dimensional wraiths make it clear they mean to acquire her soul at any price, and Katie must choose to either threaten her sanity by working with cocky afterlifer Martin Krane to fight them, or give in to the tantalizing yet bogus offers and face an eternity being consumed by monsters.

At 70,000 words, THE DEATH OF ME is a young adult paranormal adventure, which follows in the spirit of a TWILIGHT ZONE version of THE BUCKET LIST. I hold a certificate in Creative Writing from San Jose State University and have worked as a freelance editor for the past several years.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
