Literary Fiction: Mystery

So far we have queries, synopses, and first 5 pages sections. Suppose we had a section just for the first line or first paragraph?

The author could decide whether to do just the opening sentence or the whole first paragraph, and whether to mention the genre, but generally keep the post short.

No explanatory commentary or other information about the book. That way readers can get a gut reaction just to the work itself.

When I'm browsing novels in a store or library, I often decide in one sentence or paragraph whether to read on or look for a different book.

Anybody else interested in such a forum slot? Or some modification of this idea?

An appealing idea.

Sure, we can do that. I'll set it up. Thanks for the suggestion.

I already like it! Because i usually don't have time to do too many indepth crits of queries or 5 pages, but for a paragraph? Yeah i can tackle those!

Patrick made our dream a reality so quickly, I'm tempted to ask if he can make a clear mountain stream run through my living room!

(Thanks, Patrick)
