RESIDENT EVIL as a scary video game. I just played and the dog hallway still makes me jump, plus the journals hidden about are a creepy little read. I wish I could get my hands on the earlier versions with the Spencer journals.

I refuse to play Silent Hill. Absolutely refuse. There's no possible way. I was scared enough by Simon's Quest when I was a kid. I tried Nightmare Creatures on N64 and was pretty much scarred for life. Cannot. Do. Silent. Hill. *dies*

I don't blame you. When we play, we have to play rock paper scissors to see who will actually be playing, because none of us really want to be the one playing. So. Creepy.

They made silent hill into a movie. The movie's kind of crappy (though Sean Bean's in it) but there are parts that capture quite perfectly the horrible atmosphere of the game

I was wondering if that was the same!  I've seen the movie, which wasn't that good...but I could totally see how that would make an interesting video game.

The movie definitely has its moments, for sure. It's just not the most easily adaptable plot.

How am I supposed to avoid this feed when it starts talking about Silent Hill and Resident Evil and Alan Wake?Huh???

I'm reading Bram Stoker's Dracula and it is thoroughly eerie and creepy and twisted but I have read scarier books... Jeff Long's The Descent was adequately scary for me...

But as far as video games, only one has ever made me throw the controller down and walk out of my dorm room and not come back until my roommate was with me.  And that game is F.E.A.R.  Hands down, scariest game I've ever played.  I have jumped when wolves and zombies attack on Resident Evil, screamed when triangle head drags that massive sword over and crushes me on Silent Hill, pooped myself when I heard the 'big daddy' approaching in Bioshock...   But they all pale when compared to that game.

I will never be able to even look at F.E.A.R. let alone play it. Nope. No way. I am a WUSS.

I love scary movies, and I think it's because I can distance myself from the characters. But with video games, it's so interactive that I feel responsible for the MC.

Did they make a movie based on this? Or am I thinking of something else?

I know there was a movie called The Descent, but I have no idea if it was based on the book. The movie's about a group of cave spelunkers who run into crazy things in a cave and have to try to get back to the surface. Horrible synopsis but that's what I remember, anyway.
