I'd rather be writing...

WWW
« on: May 17, 2012, 10:50:48 AM »

It's still literary related, so I'm posting it here. Mostly because I am SO EXCITED I CAN HARDLY STAND IT.

Sadly, no agent yet -- just waiting on my partials and everything else. However, I have job news to share and this is my success story. This morning, I accepted a position in the Literary Scouting division at Sanford J. Greenburger Associates!!

Edit: If you want to know what a scout does? We're the ones who (and this is taken right from SJGA's website) read and evaluate a wide range of fiction from important new literary voices to potential bestsellers as well as nonfiction of every type, from current affairs to memoirs to self-help. We also evaluate children’s and young adult literature. Literary agencies, all the major houses, university presses and independent publishers are covered in our search for books with strong translation potential./Edit

So for those of you who want to get into publishing? Interning is the best way to do it. Publishing is like a giant apprenticeship and the best way in is via the real ground floor. I'm so excited to start, and I begin sometime in June. Don't have my official title yet (I was too excited to ask!) but I cannot wait to start working there.

And I also can't say enough nice things about the staff at InkWell management either. They're fantastic to work with and their Foreign Rights department is incredible (though I may be a bit biased because I worked so closely with Lyndsey, Alexis and Charlie).

This has been quite the week! Finished all my school work and finals (and survived), got a job, got requests from an amazing agent, and now a job with a great agency. SO STOKED!!!

@Midwest: It's a full-time permanent position. :^D

Thanks guys. SO stoked. And don't have to panic quite so much in terms of paying back my (insanely large) school debts either!!
