It is from someone who read it the first time before my extensive revisions. This is a person I would have not requeried, but I spaced and did it, and then saw I did and had the immediate reaction, "Damn!". Lets just say she had some choice things to say the first time and she would not be someone I'd think favorable to the project, even revised. But then I get this request, which is pretty funny. It's not like my query has changed that much, and my title hasn't changed.... so off it goes! You don't remember me, well guess what? I don't remember you! I can't wait to hear what she has to say this time. SB

A) Congratulations!
B) How long had it been since the agent had seen the pre-revised draft? It might be that the agent has new assistants that don't remember these things. And it's very possible that on the first submission, it was only the assistants who had actually read it.
However it goes, good luck & please keep us posted!

Strange! But I think dougie might be onto something - assistants first time, and now they've changed? Good luck!

But let me add, Thanks! It has been a year since drafts. I really worked hard on this revision. I'm happy to have the request, although I know I sound a bit jaded. Just feel like I've been through the ringer with this thing. But you never know. Keeping the faith!

Good luck, SB. I know what you mean about feeling jaded.
Just curious, what's the genre of the manuscript?

Thanks Sbp. It's adult commercial/literary fiction. (Good luck with that, right?)

I write adult fiction, too (women's fiction). Kudos to the recent success stories of all the QTers who write YA. There's a long streak of 'em on the success stories page right now. I'd love to see some adult genres up on that success page, too, though!

Another adult fiction writer here (upmarket women's/commercial). But I love hearing the premises of the YA books here; they all sound so imaginative and unique compared to the domestic/pedestrian premises in the things I write.

Congrats on the request! One of my crit partners was actually offered rep today from an agent who did multiple reads/revisions of her MS, so sometimes an agent who initially passed can come around. Have hope!
I write YA horror because it's my passion, but my agent has me writing a very odd little adult magic realism at the moment. It's nice having the option to write for whichever audience I please.
