I'm sure this has been discussed many o' time before, but how do you all send your partial and full submissions--with the original query letter pasted as the first page of the manuscript or some other way or not at all? I've now started leaning toward pasting it in as the first page.

I always include the query as the first page, even if the agent doesn't specifically request it.  I like to think of it as the "back cover blurb" in case the agent needs a reminder about what exactly they're reading or what they requested.

Eh, i used to do that, but then i got out of the habit unless they ask me to. I don't know if that makes me a jerk or not

I email them the query. They respond to the query email with a request for submission. I respond to that request email and let them know I've attached the ms. If you reply, rather than begin a new email, both you and the agent can keep track of the whole conversation, beginning to end. Which can be very helpful down the road.

Hope that helps!  Yes

I always have the query as the first page of the manuscript, not just because an agent blogged about it either - if they're using a reader, they won't see the query when they go to read your story and with the amount of material they look over, it's smart to reintroduce your story. Several agents have thanked me for doing it, too.
