Sent 5 new queries out...some I am really hoping to connect with. I'm armed with a query that got a partial request from last go around and a new first 10 pages that many of you enjoyed. I have sent out to 5 betas, 3 of which have come back begging for more, (2 still have it)...so let's hope this magic combination works. I will try to query 5 more tomorrow.

Am I the only one that takes hours to research the agent I'm querying? I just want to make sure that I have what they are looking for.  Huh?

I spent a few months researching each agent on my massive list of agents that accept YA, so now i really only have to spend 2-3 minutes on an agent when i query them, just to make sure my original info is still good (9 times out of 10, it is).
Good luck on the queries!! I haven't been hearing anything at all. Sigh. Summer query doldrums.

I've heard a lot of crickets too.

I've been telling myself it's a *good* thing, as it makes it more likely I'll have my WIP finished by the time I hear back from someone. If I hear good things back, I'll have a 2d book to offer and if I hear bad things back, I'll have a 2d book to query. So, take your time, agents, while I finish this baby up.

And most of the time, I believe this story. Although it hasn't kept me from saying a little prayer each time I open my email.

Yay you!  clap

Best of luck on this partial! As for a synopsis, I don't like my own but I know Chuck from Writer's Digest has some examples. So go there and do a search to see them. The best advice I can give for synopsis writing is to cover the top players in your book and to tell the WHY (motivation / emotions, etc.) rather than just the facts of what happens.

Let us know how it goes!

Congrats on your partial requests, and best of luck to you as you work on your synopsis! I have NEVER written a synopsis I liked, but I feel like agents understand how much they suck, too. I think your pitch is your time to dazzle them; your synopsis is simply time to tell them what happens.

Keep us posted!  Grin
