Stolen? If it's not nailed down, it's mine.

This is the best argument/answer for "should I quit?"

http://www.salon.com/2012/06/27/my_book_was_a_bad_idea/singleton/?utm_source=Publishers+Weekly%27s+PW+Daily&utm_campaign=ad505911a6-UA-15906914-1&utm_medium=email

Yes, if two rejections shut you down, you should quit and get out of my way. BTW, Janet Reid posted this on her blog and stated she disagrees with the final paragraph and I paraphrase, "writing a book, whether it fails, doesn't sell, never gets published, is not a mistake. It is a great accomplishment."

Yeah, i know plenty of people who are actually in love with the IDEA of being a writer, instead of the actual writing.

Though i do love this part:  the things you love don’t owe you anything – not success, not plaudits, not a decent night’s sleep, nothing

That's actually rather well-written. She's embraced failure with grace and style; brava.   Smiley

"I’m still writing, and now it feels more like an act of rebellion than the efforts of a schoolgirl desperate to please – a rebellion, to be clear, against nothing but the obnoxiously persistent conviction that external validation is the only kind that counts."

I guess we each write for different reasons... but this phrase doesn't motivate me to look into her finished works.  no

My reaction was mixed. It's hard to fault her self-insight, but the whiny undertone irked me. Everything comes too easily for her, including congratulatory swipes at herself for realizing she doesn't have the goods--and yet her writing shows she does.

Thanks for sharing, Late.  Thumbs Up

Yeah, I bring light and joy where ever I go.  crazy This individual made my Agent Orange act up. The most irksome part? SHE'S WORKING AS A WRITER! soapbox Most of us would give our right ~ahem~ anatomy to draw pay as a working writer, in ANY capacity. rant
