Good point, JW.  Patrick - can we get a forklift to maybe move the thread?

Happens a lot, I think.  Topics start on one street and end up in another area code.  Probably we'll have to be more attentive to our comments when the boards get hyper-busy.  I mean really - a thread devoted to my gender??  Grin  Useful in a help-me-figure-me-out sorta way, but doubtful anyone else visiting cares.

Anyway, I'll again concur with JW re: the "speech."  Daniel, at 15 you have all the time in the world to hone your craft, develop your artistry, and just generally become the writer your'e fully capable of being.  Maybe you've not yet been told this because I doubt you have such lessons in high school english and/or composition courses, but you will hear time and again an adage that goes something like this:

Half of writing is rewriting.

And y'know, at higher levels, I'm sure it's even more than half.  Back in my screenwriting follies, I spent 18 months writing 6 different drafts of one script for 4 producers/directors all looking to make the same movie.  After draft #6, a suggestion was made that almost everyone thought was new & fantastic.

I was the one who didn't think as such.  And I told 'em that they were essentially asking me to put something in the pages that I'd taken out for their first rewrite request.

It's not always fair, but if you're determined, you'll barrel over these speedbumps without missing a beat.

There is no hurry.  And the more attached you are to the outcome, the more the process toward that end may suffer.  Pay attention to the journey and the destination will follow.

We are always all over the place.  No point trying to clean up the mess now, but we really should try harder to stay on topic from now on.

How about a special thread for random chat. So, when things really veer off you can just move them there. Looks like the puppies have blown the kennel tonight. Just us fogies.

Sure, if you feel a thread is about to jump ship, just add a post that says "continued in anything goes" or something like that and then start a new thread here to continue on.  We have been very naughty as far as keeping on topic goes.  Whenever I try to go back and find something it's nearly impossible.

That's the reason we should try to order the chaos.
