Okay..this is for real and everyone gets to put in their two cents. We're doing it. Making a t-shirt that is. As the professional graphic designer here, i am going to put it together, but we need your collective genius to assist.

I was thinking something like this:

Querytracker.net (logo)

The tools you need to track your queries.
The community you need to get you through.

On the back of the T-shirt
Woot.

Please add your own concept or rethink it. Let's see what we come up with. This is going to be FUN!!

How are we going to distribute these, btw?
Will it be an order online thing?
Patrick should have a section on the main QT site for merchandise  wink2
And yes, T-shirts ARE fun! We custom make long sleeve shirts every year for mock trial; last year we went a little over board with the design and ended up charging everyone $25 per shirt (as compared to the year before it was only $12 a person)
Now I'm going to have to wear this once a week to school and people will be like what the hell is Query Tracker?

AHEM...

The purpose of this thread is to figure out what the T-shirt says. Are you all going to just cave so easily and choose my idea? I don't know how Patrick wants to distribute them. I think, though that they are great publicity so i hope all of us early adapters here get one for free. Now back to our show.

Any other ideas? Audal, where are you when we need your irreverent wit? snap, snap!

See you later..I think i will go jump in the lake. Literally.

woot.

Well, is the QT logo the only thing to go on the front?
And the shirt needs a color; something that works for both genders--so no pinky stuff  ;)
And I'm thinking a royal blue or black would be cool.

I was talking slogan. Patrick and I will take care of the look. It has to be a lighter color because printing light on dark is more expensive. I was thinking white.

Think slogan. Nothing is set in stone. What do YOU want it to say?

Huh?  Wha'?  Somebody send up the Bat Signal?

OK, I'll mull it over.  I actually have a full calendar for the next couple days, so I may not be as active.  Is there a deadline?  I also have to look through suggestions thus far.  I recall comin' up with one or two slogan ideas myself, but... hmmm... what were they?  QT'ers have short memories?  Dunno.

What I do know - or at least think I know - which means I have no holy clue - is that the best t-shirts aren't busy.  Small-ish design at heart level (an elegant & interlocking QT?), larger w/slogan on the back.

arrrghhh. Words..guys..just the words. I will take your words and put them into a very nice design. I teach that stuff, remember? That avatar is my artwork. Trust me. Patrick does. I want your input on what it will say. You are writers, correct?

(sorry if I sound testy).

Patrick and I have been discussing this, and we have decided that if enough of our core group of members are willing to wear them ESPECIALLY to writer's conferences, we will make some shirts up.  Give us some good ideas!!

I have another idea. I read that a cheap but good way to get your own publicity is to wear a shirt. One author asked her friend to wear a shirt saying, "Ask me what's on page 23 of [insert name of book]." OK it didn't really say it like that. I just can't remember the book's name.

Sure enough, people began asking him about it, and got a previously unheard-of book noticed. It wasn't a bestseller, but it was something.

So ... I think that we should put something like that about our own books in addition to publicizing the site.

Back:

Ask me about my book, [insert title]

I like that too!
Better than my idea that was along the lines of, "Keep track of that mountain of rejection letters!"
Can't wait to see how the shirts turn out.

That's a good idea, that's a keeper.
