Huh? Let's say you send in a proposal requested as a results of a query. And then no answer. How long should you wait before you send in the proposal to the next guy? newday11

MiGod - with all the people you've got interested, I'd just go back to the guy and say, "Sorry you weren't interested, will continue to negotiate with the several others who've shown interest."

I'm assuming that you've offered them an exclusive viewing.

Is there a "don't call us, we'll call you" duration stated in the agents submission guidelines?  If not, give them a month, and then send them a followup email.  If you feel cocky, tell them that you are sorry for the inconvenience but you need an answer by Friday at the latest.  They might assume you have an offer and that will up the ante.  Otherwise send a followup to your followup and then consider their exclusivity to have expired.

I'm not sure how different the rules for nonfiction are than fiction, but if there is no exclusive I wouldn't wait.  Worst case: you get multiple offers in a short span and have to go with the one you like the best.

Oh, darn.   wink2

You've already waited long enough. Send away!

naughty I've got 2 of my 3 clearances. I'm in touch with a Brigadier General at the Pentagon (who use to work for me) who has contacted the one missing overseas agency to see if she can get them moving. But alas, time has run out for the day.
