Strange topic, I know. In a project that's still in the sketching (sketchy) stages, I'm thinking of having an ex-husband come back to Wife 1 for an annulment because New Squeeze wants to get married in church. This actually happened to a friend of mine, but Husband 1 wanted a religious one, which is a little different.

My problem: In NJ at least, there are very specific grounds for a civil annulment, none of which really apply to my protag and her ex, and I'm not sure I want to go the religious route. (Not that I don't think we Catholics are a scream, but this could be a tough one.)

I'm wondering if anyone out there could answer some questions about annulment?

Thanks so much!

People seeking annulments are usually doing it for religious purposes, so that they can get remarried. There is not much significance in the difference between an annulment and a divorce, otherwise.

In both cases you end up un-married, but with an annulment it's as if it never happened.  Usually, the grounds for annulment are some kind of fraud.
