Noooooo, count that stuff too!  It's all important!

I got my first publishing credits doing in-house writing for a couple of CD-ROM magazines (this was back before the internet went broadband).  I still had to nag the editors to get the work, so I figure that's gotta count for something.  Grin

I like both worlds - NF and Fiction....so, count me in.  My original writing plans consisted of writing about the social and emotional needs of gifted students and emotional intensity.....Then I got too intense on a fiction storyline that took on a life of its own.  Now that that story is done, I am considering going back to NF  eek

I'm working on a how-to-write book, based on my 20 years as a technical writer and editor. It will be geared more toward business and nonfiction writing rather than technical writing, though.

Hello,

I just joined this group, and saw your post.  I've currently written around 33,000 words to my memoir called Living Out Loud.  I posted my first chapter, God Hates Me a few minutes ago.

I look forward in getting to know some of you.

I'm in the middle of writing a memoir but it's gonna be super long after being around for seventy years!
Right now, I'm doing it in little pieces trying to find a nugget that might sell as a short story.
I spent a few years in a foster home established by a retired school teacher in Southern California and, as the group still exists, I'm going to see if they'd be interested in my memories of living in one of the first of them. It was also allied with a church and am going to see if the church might consider the article.

There are lots ofd things I remember growing up in the Los Angeles area -- such as remember being able to see the floodlights at the LA Coloseum light up the sky when the Dodgers first played there. Also seeing some games there with players like Pewee Reese and others I've forgotten at the moment.

I've always got a non fic on the back burner.  One of my early publishing creds was ghostwriting for a psychology teacher who was from India (I don't recall if I posted about this before ... apologies if I have.)  He spoke the language beautifully but his writing was like stereo instructions ... I was recommended to him by one of my other professors who'd I'd wowed with a political piece about the possible impacts of "crack babies" on different areas of society.  Right now my NF piece is a revival/tribute to a cake decorating/hospitality "magazine" that circulated from the mid fiftees to the mid seventees -- updating the recipes to fit today's standards (few of us have weddings that need a cake to feed five thousand anymore!) Oh, that I did talk about before, sorry.  I always get nervous before going to work.
