Man this forum is quiet! I'm half-way into a non-fiction project, and I'm having fun. It's not a textbook; it is first entertainment, and second, education through real stories. I hate that stupid word "edutainment" but maybe that's what it is.
It seems like every writing site is dominated by fiction - ya, paranormal, sci-fi, romance, chick lit, etc. My work could just as easily be viewed as fiction, so I could always post on the fiction boards, but I'd rather know that there are other creative nf authors here.
Anybody here have experience writing/publishing creative nf?

No books, but I've published some short CNF pieces. I'm having eye surgery this morning, so I'll be off-line for a few days, but I'll check in later to see what others have posted.

I've publsihed a bunch of cnf pieces too - this will be my first book. It's a collection of similarly themed stories (about 3,000 wds each).
Hope your eye surgery goes smoothly.

Way late to the party here LOL I have short CNF essays published in three Chicken Soup for the Soul books. Working on a book length piece, though it's something I just dabble with every now and then. I might focus more time on it now that my NF book is done and with my editor.

This is the first time I checked in here for a couple of months. My project was put on hold for a while, but I got back at the keyboard again. I'm 25,000 words into my collection of cnf stories -just about halfway. Anyway, I saw your mention of the Soup and thought I'd mention that I have a story in one too

Fun! Which one are you in? I'm in the Dieter's Soul and the Chocolate Lover's Soul and then the same essay that is in the Dieter's Soul is in one of their health series books on Back Pain.

Well, my book is true, tells about many exciting incidents, it's historical and it's entertaining (I hope), so is the book CNF? JG, hope your eye surgery is OK! newday11

I'm ignoring the warning about replying to a topic that has not been posted in for at least 120 days - hopefully that doesn't land me in the penalty box Perhaps the members who responded earlier will check back in again. My story appears in the Ocean Lover's Soul. The best part of the experience was a series of emails between me & Steve Creech. He gave me some great advice & helped me find the heartbeat of the story I was struggling to tell. Anyway, nearly two years since I began this thread & my project is not completed. I'm not upset by that though - I think I needed the distance. I'm ready to dive back in and finish it up. As it stands, I have 19 stories that have been revised at least once each. Those need additional revision. Building on that, I have 8 more "chapters" to write and revise. Once completed my work should be between 40,000 to 45,000 words.

Did second edits on 13 of 18 (not 19) chapters & I'm fairly satisfied with them. Once I finish the last 5 that are already written, I'll have 8 additional chapters to write & edit. I should be right about 40,000 & I'll call it finished at that point. I was offered the opportunity to write a blog for a popular website (50,000 members) in my area of interest, and I hope to get it going & use the blog as a platform to launch my project.
