Revise and Resubmit! I'd love to get one of those! Of course, I'd need some idea of what they want me to revise.

R&R means Revise and Resubmit. It's a sign that the agent is interested in your work, but feels it isn't quite "there" yet. (I'd love to get an R&R request. ) Congrats on getting a call! I hope it goes well. Please keep us posted.

wow thanks for the post, this could come handy one day, hopefully soon. and congrats hey for the call. Okay so what are the conditions if someone lives in Africa? Do agents just pass it because phone costs or distance from them? I am quite unsure about this.

Nice list! I hope to be able to need this information one day. If an agent ever offers to set up a call, I'll probably be so flustered I'll forget all about it though.

I know there are several links to questions for the call - I liked the one from Literary Rambles, as well: http://www.literaryrambles.com/2010/02/call-or-what-to-ask-literary-agent-when.html. I'm prepping a list of things to tell the agent, as well. I feel like maybe I read about it somewhere? What questions we should be prepared to answer (where have you subbed your work if you've sent it to a publisher, how many completed works do you have, etc)... Does anyone know of articles or posts about this?

I had my first call today: a very kind, regretful rejection. She said it's very rare for her to read all the way to the end of a ms and not offer representation and she'd been turning the question of whether to go ahead or not over in her head since she finished reading. Ah well, hopefully this means I'm getting closer...
