This is probably as clear as mud. Thanks for any feedback.

Emissary: Synopsis

After witnessing his brother’s moral decline upon entering the king’s elite army, NOLAN TRIVDAR vows to never follow the same path. Instead, he spends twelve years hiding one the land’s six coveted powers—his power of Precision—behind the guise of a scribe.

EMERY CADOGAN served as the king’s general for eighteen years, enduring the evil of his fellow soldiers and the persistent lusts of the king. For ten years he evades capture and gathers others like himself to resist the crown, but a simple drink brings his freedom to an end.

The duke summons Nolan to record the questioning of a deserter, Emery Cadogan, who is found at a local pub. When Nolan faces him, Emery uses his power of Empathy and senses Nolan’s suppressed power. However, instead of proclaiming Nolan’s secret, Emery enlightens him to a far worse threat: the imminent extinction of the six coveted powers. Nolan is torn to help Emery or stay in the safety of his current position as scribe. But when he befriends a hot-headed youth, ALEC DEVEREL, who comes into the power of Speed at an annual tournament, Nolan chooses to save the boy from his required service to the king’s depraved army, free Emery, and help Emery and his hidden group of resistance search for the cause of the land’s dwindling powers.

At first, they suspect the KING ALCANDOR, a manipulative ruler who holds all six powers, is responsible. But when the first of six stones is brought to them by a supposedly extinct Guardian—a gigantic warrior exuding with light—the real source, a churning dark gathering of mists created by the people’s own anger and fear, is revealed. They discover that by placing the stone in the sun’s rays, the refracted light restores their abilities. And when additional stones are found, they also give Nolan additional powers.

Nolan hides his new abilities and struggles to control them. But when his friends are captured, he puts asides his fear of being compared to the king and—using his new powers—rescues his friends. In the process, Nolan discovers that King Alcandor is a Guardian hiding behind the form of a man. Nolan touches the stones to King Alcandor’s flesh to defeat him, releasing the powers that Alcandor has stolen from men. But even after the king is defeated, the dark mists remain.

Nolan gains the last of the six powers, Healing, and uses it to trade his life for the king’s general, Nolan’s fallen brother, KAEL TRIVIDAR. However, Nolan comes back to life and is transformed into a being, half Guardian and half man. In his new form, Nolan erupts with light, bright as a star dropping to earth, cleansing the land of the dark mists and freeing them from the oppressive gloom.

In the end, Emery conquers his past by overcoming the scars and abuse from his years of service in the king’s ranks, Alec conquers his prejudice and anger, and Nolan rises above his complacency and becomes someone extraordinary. For the stones have told them that every person in Adamah is gifted, not just a select few. Nolan must go out into the land and become a messenger, an Emissary, to enlighten people to their hidden abilities. And though he must travel, alone for the most part, Nolan knows he will travel in the hearts and thoughts of his friends.

Gawd. It's EXCELLENT.  I'd READ it, and I do NOT read High Fantasy.  Kudos and Karma.

Not at all.  This gave me better understanding as to what was going on in what I read of the actual start of the novel.  This is a book I would read, and, like I said, I am not much one for High Fantasy or Sword & Sorcery.   I bow to you, Madam.  It is excellent.  The stuff of a best seller, IMO.  It's epic.

Geee... Thanks.   embarrassed2

I've been having a low day, been pretty depressed. No reason really, just been feeling pretty bummed about the whole submission process.

I appreciate your kind words.

Submitting is one of the toughest things about the process, Miss Java.  Well, not submitting, but the whole submission/waiting/rejection-hoping/fearful/dejected part of it.  Chin up.  It's a wonderful story and you're an excellent writer and story-teller.  You really don't have a thing to worry about.  This too shall pass. Next year, you'll look back and think, "Wow.  I worried and fretted for nothing."

As to my being "kind," as you put it, no.  Not kind.  I'm rarely kind.  I'm honest, though.  Or silent.  I might give a few pats on the shoulder, but I don't hand out platitudes.  ...And, right now, I'm cussing mostly, all day, no less. Wonderful MS Word decided to rearrange my manuscript and jumble words and the like...for who knows WHAT reason.  I started another read-though prepping it for the printer to make submission copies to send out for requests and what do I find?  My locked down final is a MESS, looking like gremlins got in there and decided to play billards with letters and words as the ballies!  So today of all days, believe me, I'm not handing out any undeserved plums!

Yeah.  I'm not happy.  I'm down to page 314 in sorting it, but I'm going to have to go read it through again a couple more times to make sure.  I got ahold of tech support Microsoft.  They said turn off a bunch of things, that after a manuscript gets over 250 some pages that these things can happen.  They suggested I save each chapter separately.  Gawd.  I can't even imagine having to save each chapter separately!!  Thanks for the well-wishes.  Didn't mean to hijack Miss Java's thread.
