At the end of NaNoWriMo this year they offered a contest for the participants. Send your e-pitch to The Book Doctors( sorry I can't link I am on my phone) and they will pick 25 random pitches to critique. Also if you bought their book, The Essential guide to getting your book published, they would set up a 20 min consultation with you about your pitch.
Long story short I didn't get my pitch chosen for the contest, but I did get my 20 min consultation.
It was great. David was helpful and gave me the names of a few agents he thought may be interested in my book. He also offered to have another hour and 30 min phone call with me. He wanted me to send him my revised pitch/query letter and the first 100 pages of my book. He would help me go through the pitch line by line and review my first 100 pgs for $150 dollars.
I understand they are "consultants" and they need to make a living, but I just want to see what you guys think. I don't think they are scammers! I just want to make sure I am investing in the right things.
He also said, if he thought my writing was good enough, he would help get me in contact with the agents he mentioned in the first part of our phone conversation. Help!
Sorry for any grammar/spelling mistakes etc. Like I said, I am using my phone to post.
