When  I'm in query tracker and read the comments entered for specific agents, I get the feeling I am a male eavesdropping on a woman's private party.   It's all such girly-type of talk. . . ."hugs"  "I'm just going to go shopping" etc. I'm thinking that maybe the mix here is 80% women and only 20% men.  I'm relatively new here, so I could be wrong.  Do any of you more experienced administrators have any ideas about this?

Women tend to use online sites for socializing more than men do. Men tend to use online sites for information and how-to more than women do. Obviously that's not true across the board: women use online how-to sites all the time, and men do socialize online.

But in terms of leaving comments, it may just be that the women are more willing to form the core backbone of the QT community by socializing in the comments section.

Men on forums may tend to lurk more. There's nothing wrong with that. If you feel the talk is too "girly," whatever that means, feel free to start some testosterone-laden conversations and give your masculine opinion in the comments section.  Grin
