I'm thinking about publishing through kindle, I have one question. Do I, as the author own the digital rights of any book I have written, or do I have to do something to aquire the rights. Also do I own the worldwide rights?

In a word: Yes.

If you haven't signed a contract granting the rights to someone else, you own the rights.  But if you have sold them to someone else, then they own the rights.  If you've sold the print rights to someone, then you still own the digital rights.  Several publishers fought this battle in court, and lost.
