Just curious: once you've signed the agency contract and received the editorial suggestion, how many revisions are generally required before the work goes out on submission? 1? 10? 100?!?!

For me it was one HUGE revision, followed by a handful of smaller changes.

Over what period of time? Was your agent a "fast responder"?

I had one tiny revision (I think it took me a day) - and then we went out on sub. Now it looks like I'll be doing a revision for an editor, which is a much, much, larger revision, probably take me a month.
So far, then: 2.

We did several rounds of revision w/i a 2 week period. 1 big revision, some smaller ones, and then 2 rounds of line edits. The first revision took about a week, the other 3 rounds were done over the course of 2 days.

I did one big revision, and one small change after that. That's it. It varies greatly, depending on the agent and the book and the author. Good luck!

One small revision but it made the book a whole lot better.

Three revisions for my agent, some were small and some were about medium size. It took me about six weeks to finish them. I'm positive I'll be revising for the editor who offers a contract.

I revised several times for my agent, before it was submitted the first time. Based on editorial feedback, we pulled it in for a total rewrite from third to first person, and then resubmitted it successfully for a sale. Then, I got to revise it over and over for my publisher. Fortunately, revising is my favorite part of the process. Sick, I know.

I had a moderate revision and then a few smaller ones. I think it helped the book.

Just one revision for line edits before we went on submission. There will be more smaller ones coming soon that my editor is getting together for me, but thankfully nothing huge.

Nine, and I wish I'd done at least one more. But then, I'm far more demanding of myself than any editor or agent could ever be. ~A~

Me three! Was about to write the same thing -- as many as it takes. However, if all an agent had me doing was revising, and it never seemed like it was "right", that's a different story. I find myself more careful now in my drafts, hoping to need to revise less on the other end. Em As many as it takes.
