Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.

And NEVER give money to an "agent".

Charli, that's interesting. She told me about nonfiction when I've received my latest rejection from her. Sounds like a merge.

I just received a rejection stating she is concentrating on non-fiction at the moment. What is interesting is the signature line:

Anne Marie O'Farrell
Marcil-O'Farrell Literary LLC
86 Dennis Street
Manhasset, NY 11030

Is it still the Denise Marcil Agency? According to this they've merged.

@Patrick,

I do not see anywhere on this agent's website that she represents Women's Fiction...

Yeah Cass. 10/24, I sent her a query. Today I've gotten two rejections from her, one after another, one hour report. One, she had gotten my receipt and not going to represent me. The other one said she's not going to ask for further material. Weird? I'll try her for Chain Reaction in spring 2012.

2.4.12, I've sent her a query, but forgot the 5 pages. 2.14.12, I've heard back. She wants the 5 pages. As of last night, I've been bumped to a 2 chapter partial request. I'll send it out today.

4/25/12--Anne-Marie passed. She specializes in nonfiction and rarely does fiction.

Snail mail with 10 samples pages - August 10
snail mail letter of rejection - September 28. Letter was a routine flyer - the kind you print by hundreds. It was signed by a real-life hand though. Chuckle but appreciated her reply.

Has anyone submitted anything paranormal to her? Her genres are pretty broad, and there isn't any indication on their website if they like/don't like paranormal stuff.

Good luck with your submission. Hopefully, your genre is right for her and she responds positively.

Alas, close but no cigar. This agent is a class act. Her rejection of my manuscript, her words reproduced below, still hurts, but nevertheless encouraging. That said, it's now full speed ahead completing my second novel.

"Thank you for the opportunity to read DDSS. I am going to pass on representation. I think your book has a lot of good points for a first time author - exciting story line - but ultimately it didn't keep my attention.
Please realize that I usually deal in the world of non-fiction so I don't consider myself an expert in this field at all. I encourage you to continue to find an agent - especially one that specializes in the thriller genre. They may be able to help you tweak it so that it is saleable. Wishing you all the best!"

Responded to inquiry re length of ms 1/14. Received request for complete ms today, 1/26/10. Plan to snail mail it to her tomorrow. It's one step closer.

Snail mailed requested 50 pages 12/30. Received the following from this agent today, 1/14:

"I don't usually read this quickly, but I have completed the first 50 pages of your ms. How many pages is the ms. in its entirety? I would like to read more but I'm not certain I am ready for the whole ms. (especially if it's rather long)."

Loookin good.

Snail mailed this agent on 10/27/09 with my query letter. Received an email response on 12/29: ". . . Sounds interesting! Please send the first fifty pages to me."
First 3 chapters (48 pgs) snail mailed on 12/30. Have a good feeling about this one, but we'll see. Think positive.
