Rej 4/3 but a lovely personal email - saying she enjoyed my chapters but was finding it hard to place historical fiction at the moment...

This is per their website under submissions: We try not to be overly prescriptive as to which genres we are looking for, but high-concept science fiction, educational textbooks, erotica, graphic novels, picture books and translations of already published works are not right for us.

Maybe query tracker (Patrick?) can remove this agency from under their children's picture book listing!

"Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite the right fit for our lists at this current moment and we don’t feel that we can offer you representation.

We’d like to take the time to reassure that a pass is very often not a comment on the quality of your work. etc., etc."

Probably boilerplate, but moderately positive.

At least they were quick with a response--Or should I be disappointed about that?

It was a form letter but I thought it was a very considerate one. Very gently phrased and pointed out that a rejection is not necessarily a comment on the work, just that it wasn't the right fit at this time.
