Well, I'm glad you have some closure, Tuuli. Interesting news that Lora's leaving the agency. (Her website has the same note, by the way). Makes me wonder if she's leaving agenting as well...

I finally talked to Claire. She answered my questions and is really nice, but she's only looking at repping my one book. She recommended that if another agent offers to rep it, then I should go with them because she's stepping away from fiction. I want an agent for my career. The great thing is that she said my writing was very good. I can take that. :D

She also told me that Lora is leaving the agency. I don't know anything beyond that.

Actually it wasn't hard. I'm almost finished a new project I'm super excited about. I was going to query that one and put the one Claire liked to the side to deal with a few issues a couple of other agents bought up (I'd been close a few times, but not close enough). I'm using Donald Maass's workbook on my WIP and it's done wonders for the project. I wanted to do the same with the book I was querying. So I'm happy things worked the way they did. I wanted my WIP to be my first book (if both were to be published). :)

Good move, Tuulil. Sounds like you did what's best for you, and that's the most important thing.

Must've been hard. Keep your spirits up!

Not having much luck talking to Claire. First she wasn't there when I called (she was on the phone). Not a problem. She said she would call me later but didn't have a chance. She then emailed and asked for a time today to get a hold of me. I gave her two times. Again no call.

Since she has no experience in my genre (YA) and no fiction sales in over two years (but has some impressive non-fiction sales), I'm writing her off as a potential agent. I've had too many writer friends who had to leave a not so great agent, I'm not interested in being one of those satistics. She's probably a wonderful agent, but she's not the right one for me. ;)

Good luck everyone who has a query or partial/full out with Lora.

Okay, an update on my YA contemp which I had queried Lora with. Lora passed it to Claire because, according to the mesage, Claire is selecting the fiction. I received a message this morning from Claire asking me to call her this week.

Now to do research on this agent because she isn't who I queried.
