CNR.

After Brenna requested my full and I received the auto-reply from my nudge saying she'd left, I queried Paul directly, explaining the situation and asking if he'd be interested in taking a look. No reply. Adult fantasy.

Thanks for that info on Brenna. I did see she'd moved on via her Twitter bio, but I hadn't considered she might've taken requests with her, I don't know what agency policy is on that sort of thing. Also don't know if it's appropriate to contact her there since she didn't inform me she was leaving. I guess I'll just let it go and see what happens. Cheers!

Re: Brenna

According to her new listing in QT she's now a junior agent at Transatlantic. So if she did request your full, she may still be considering it for her list at her new agency.

Update: Nope. Brenna doesn't work here anymore. I waited 3 months to nudge her on a full she requested, and got an auto-reply stating she's moved on.

I hope no one else is waiting around to hear from her. Pretty disappointed as fulls are always a gut-wrenching roller coaster to begin with, but to find out that she's left the agency without notifying those she'd requested from is disheartening. Wish I'd known sooner.

Does anyone know if Brenna English-Loeb is still with the agency? I don't see her name on the website, but she requested my full a few months ago. I don't want to nudge her as it's only been 2 months, but at the same time, if she's no longer with them I'd be keen to try querying this agency again. Thanks!

His rejection was personal and complimentary. The first part discussed what he liked about the book and how he parsed it out with regards to tone and sub genre. He then mentioned how difficult the historical market is (which is what I hear from agents ALL THE TIME). How does anyone who writes HF ever get published? But I digress . . .

The second part of his email said this: It is rare for me not to offer to represent a book submitted to me that I actually finish. (Lucky me! Not!) And, candidly, I really enjoyed it. But I don’t have a sense of how to position this best for the market and don’t think I’d be the right agent for it. If you end up not placing the book, I’d be happy to look at future projects. In any event, I wish you the best.

Even though it was a rejection in the end, I think he is a class act and anyone who manages to be represented by him is quite lucky!

Wishing everyone the best!
