Weird. I didn't write the entry for Jul 7. Wonder why QT reposted it from earlier!

Wow, Tuulil! Congratulations! It must be quite a book for Marisa to have read the full and offered in one day!

I received an offer for a book contract yesterday and emailed Brittany this morning since she has my query from March. Because she is closed to queries, Marisa requested my full and offered representation this afternoon.

I agree with Jump1932. I suspected this was going to happen months ago. Her deadlines are very tight and she can't be expected to be a full time agent and full time author of bestselling novels. And it wouldn't be fair to her clients if she tried. When she attends conferences, it's not as an agent, it's as a high-in-demand author.

That's probably not the case in this specific instance, SPT. Brittany is a NYT bestselling author writing under her pen name -- I think a good deal more success than she anticipated -- so probably her sensible plan was interrupted by a healthy dose of good fortune (and strong writing!)

Hmm interesting. I think I might just step away from this agency since the agent turn over seems very high and the sales are only average. Always new agents popping in and out never gaining a ton of experience. I'd feel more comfortable else where, ya know?

Submitted a partial to Brittany a few mo ago. Today, I received a very nice note from Brittany that she is stepping down from agenting to more fully pursue her writing career. Wishing her success with her future novels.

Probably a good idea since it appears she's only responded to a couple of queries in the past two months.
