Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.

And NEVER give money to an "agent".

Thank you very much for your query, which I have read with interest. Unfortunately the project does not seem right for me, and I am sorry I cannot offer to read your work.

I do wish you all the best on finding more suitable representation, and thank you again.

Sincerely,
Pam Strickler

If you get a form from this agent, count yourself lucky. She's vicious.

To clarify, I did not get a form. I got a personalized R. I asked this agent a polite follow up question. Obviously, she was under no obligation to reply to the question, but I put it out there. She took it as an opportunity to be snarky and cruel. Also, the assumptions she put forward in her response showed poor reading comprehension skills.

Historical Fiction

"Thank you very much for your query, which I have read with interest. Unfortunately the project does not seem right for me, and I am sorry I cannot offer to read your work. I do wish you all the best on finding more suitable representation, and thank you again."

While HF is one of her specialties, she leans toward women's fiction and romances. Mine is about a man and a failed romance!
