Katie hasn't stopped agenting. She's reported that Andrea Hurst (founder of the agency where Katie works) has.

I did not receive the "closed to queries" auto-response--those seem to have started a day or so after I sent my query--but I'm closing this one out early due to the fact that she is no longer agenting.

... Though it doesn't say as much on the website. Oh well.

I nudge for queries and sometimes partials, after the response time had expired with no word. A gentle reminder couldn't hurt. Sometimes I do hear back with an apology and a request to resend.

I think some people nudge for queries if the agent's website promises they will respond within a certain amount of time and they never do. But if the agent's website says "no response means no" then no nudging allowed! :)

Thanks Rohallma. So nudging is just used after a manuscript has been requested and sent, not for queries?
