EQ 3/27/18 (Requery Venom)
ER 6/22/18 (Interested in ms, but mentioned show vs tell issue.) I'm passing on this agency totally. Same as below.

Not a legitimate listing. A discredit to hardworking agents. This guy is trolling for suckers to pay him for editorial services. The letter I received 5 days after submitting was identical to one I read in the comments.

This doesn't appear to be a real "agency". Instead, they seem to be interested in selling services: editing, promotion, etc. All for a price, of course.

That's why I posted it. I wanted to warn others without coming out and saying what I thought it was. Thank you for stating it for me ;)

nacaulddron - Nice that they expressed interest, but it sounds more like a solicitation to employ them rather than a genuine interest in representing your work. I would be very cautious...

I recently queried with a PB of 690 words. Their response is pasted below. I will let you decide for yourself on the matter.

Thank you for your submission. While we may have interest in *XXX*,
we don’t feel that it is ready to submit to publishers. If you
are interested in discussing how we may help you improve your work, you may
respond to this email, and we can arrange a call with Peter.

Peter is available as a publishing consultant. He is an established
literary and film manager with over four decades of experience in the
publishing, motion picture, and television industries, both domestically
and globally. Because of the changes in the marketplace, authors,
screenwriters, and filmmakers are struggling to get their work published
and accepted by studios and production companies. These days, your work and
proposal and marketing plan must be top-notch in order to compete in what
is not a normal seller's market, and Global Lion Intellectual Property
Management can possibly help you!

Attached is an article on social media that Peter wrote, which may be of
interest to you. It is essential that you have an active and extensive
social media presence if you want to compete in this marketplace.

Feel free to visit our website, or Google
“Peter Miller Literary Lion” or “A Literary Lions Tale.” You may also
watch some video clips on YouTube.

Here are some of the services Global Lion offers:

- Preliminary Consultation with Peter Miller
- Editorial Guidance, Editing, and Proofreading (if needed)
- Pitch, Blurb, and Proposal Writing
- Social Media Guidance (including website and blog suggestions)

The cost of services is customized to your specific needs, and Peter will
discuss this with you during an initial phone consultation. This process
begins by reading and evaluating your work and your social media and
branding strategy. You may send us a few pages or, an entire manuscript. We
will edit your work for grammatical errors and syntax. We will also make
suggestions about tone, details, pace, character development, flow, and
more—as well as branding and social media suggestions.

Wishing you success with your writing and hoping to hear from you.

His rejection letter was fast (>24hr) and a form. I sent this query before I discovered this comments page and the video below, so I'm actually relieved. He seems to be looking for people who have an established social media presence for their work already. I'm a director of content marketing (and social media) in my day job--and indicated that in my letter. I think that creating a following for a book that isn't available is jumping the gun unless one is self-publishing. Marketing decisions should be made in consultation with agents and publishers, imo.

See letter below.

Dear XXXX,

Your query regarding "XXXXX" has been evaluated.

Unfortunately, Mr. Miller is not able to represent your manuscript at this time. Global Lion concentrates on high-quality fiction and non-fiction works that have the strong possibility for crossover to film and television. Additionally, as digital technology and social media has advanced, it has become a fact that it often takes more than good work for a publisher to recognize the value of a manuscript. A strong social media presence is necessary to demonstrate a guaranteed readership and assure publishers that the cost of publishing and distributing a book will result in commercial success. Even work with a lot of promise is a hard sell without it. If you have a strong social media presence that you did not mention in this message or later build that kind of presence, please resubmit your query to with links and/or evidence of this for re-evaluation. All the best with this and future endeavors.

I have attached a book Mr.Miller wrote several years ago titled, Author! Screenwriter! the password is lightning. Mr. Miller sends you this as a gift and hopes that you can benefit from both the article and the book.

Kind regards,
from KristenH

On 5/11/16, I've requeried Peter Miller with Venom. Today I've heard back with a pass--they're looking for high quality crossover appeal in film and TV for fiction. I might try him this summer with Chain Reaction.

Mr. Miller used to reply almost instantly, but Data Explorer shows not one single response since 1/1/15. Looks like nobody is taking these queries? But the new website sounds like they're accepting... I'm calling it a CNR to get it off the list.
