His rejection letter was fast (>24hr) and a form. I sent this query before I discovered this comments page and the video below, so I'm actually relieved. He seems to be looking for people who have an established social media presence for their work already. I'm a director of content marketing (and social media) in my day job--and indicated that in my letter. I think that creating a following for a book that isn't available is jumping the gun unless one is self-publishing. Marketing decisions should be made in consultation with agents and publishers, imo.

See letter below.

Dear XXXX,

Your query regarding "XXXXX" has been evaluated.

Unfortunately, Mr. Miller is not able to represent your manuscript at this time. Global Lion concentrates on high-quality fiction and non-fiction works that have the strong possibility for crossover to film and television. Additionally, as digital technology and social media has advanced, it has become a fact that it often takes more than good work for a publisher to recognize the value of a manuscript. A strong social media presence is necessary to demonstrate a guaranteed readership and assure publishers that the cost of publishing and distributing a book will result in commercial success. Even work with a lot of promise is a hard sell without it. If you have a strong social media presence that you did not mention in this message or later build that kind of presence, please resubmit your query to with links and/or evidence of this for re-evaluation. All the best with this and future endeavors.

I have attached a book Mr.Miller wrote several years ago titled, Author! Screenwriter! the password is lightning. Mr. Miller sends you this as a gift and hopes that you can benefit from both the article and the book.

Kind regards,
from KristenH

On 5/11/16, I've requeried Peter Miller with Venom. Today I've heard back with a pass--they're looking for high quality crossover appeal in film and TV for fiction. I might try him this summer with Chain Reaction.

Mr. Miller used to reply almost instantly, but Data Explorer shows not one single response since 1/1/15. Looks like nobody is taking these queries? But the new website sounds like they're accepting... I'm calling it a CNR to get it off the list.

If you're considering this agent, watch the video. It'll give you insight, whether positive or negative, if you'll be a good fit. Always remember, this is a partnership. Hopefully, a long-term one. If a personality rubs you the wrong way, that's not the agent for you.

Hope the link helps you make a decision whether or not to query. It did for me. And how.

Agency has changed it's name from PMA Literary to Global Lion Intellectual Property Management.

This agency has changed its name to Global Lion Intellectual Property Management. It apparently no longer does business as PMA Literary. And the website indicates that Peter Miller is open to queries. SeattleScribe believes he may have retired. Strange that he would continue to feature a rather detailed website that is copywrited 2014. We'll see. Perhaps Querytracker could update this profile for us.
