According to AgentQuery: As of Sep 15, 2006, their submission policies have changed and they no longer accept unsolicited FICTION queries from unpublished writers (see exceptions on their PM agency listing)

Publisher's Marketplace states:Unpublished authors - Fiction: The agency is temporarily closed to queries from writers who are not published at book length (self published or print-on-demand do not count). As of September 15, 2006, there are only three exceptions to this policy: (1) Unpublished authors who have received an offer from a reputable publisher, who need an agent before beginning contract negotiations; (2) Authors who are recommended by a published author, editor or agent who has read the work in question; (3) Authors whom we have met at conferences and from whom we have requested submissions.

Is this old information?

Well we'll see turned into no. Still loved my writing voice, but can't see plot working in this "today's very tight mystery market."

Sent query yesterday afternoon, received request for partial and full synopsis this morning. She did mention that the market was tough, but she liked my voice so she wanted to see more and "we'll see". So, I guess... we'll see! LOL

Form (not for me) rejection after a day or two. May have been my own fault for being too hasty and not seeing her query requirements.

She accepts queries for non-fiction, but will also accept fiction queries from previously published authors.

So, I'm confused. Is she accepting unsolicited queries now? Here it says yes, agent query says no, PM says no. Anyone?
Thanks!

Thanks Patrick for answering.

Less than 24 hours for a curt:
Thank you for your query. Unfortunately I must pass on this.

I queried according to the most recent instructions (first five pages in email body) on 3/24 and received a full request plus synopsis today.

She asked for five pages and 3-5 page synopsis from me. Seems like a heck of a long synopsis...

1 day from e-query to rejection...but it was a personalized, helpful rejection. Thought the premise sounded like chick lit and wrote "Unfortunately, chick lit is almost impossible to sell unless you're already an established chick lit author." I probably should have specified that I consider it YA (because the main characters are 19) but, hey, at least it's not a form rejection.

A rejection 2 days later: Thank you for allowing me to read some of.... Unfortunately, I must pass on this.

I submitted a query and received a request a couple of days later (2/4/09) for a 3-5 page synopsis plus the first five pages.
