Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.

And NEVER give money to an "agent".

Literary: Actual personalized rejection. So unusual.

Certainly a different premise, but not the right match for my small list, especially when I'm taking on few new novels .

Yestrerday I've requeried Felicia Eth with Chain Reaction and got back the same response from sincerelyamelia--not drawn to it, taking little new fiction.

Appreciate the quick response with a note that she was taking on too much new fiction at this time and was politely declining. Oh well.

Same day rejection from Felicia Eth--she passed on my requery at 9:10 PM last night. Though she reps thrillers, she said it's not what she's looking for. I'll try her later this late May with Chain Reaction.

Received a quick, but personalized communication that was frank and friendly. I really appreciated her responsiveness and feedback on why she wasn't the best agent for the project. Hope I get an agent as responsive as Ms. Eth :)

Received an oddly personalized yet rude rejection. No salutation, no sign-off, just one sentence about why it wouldn't sell.

My antiviral program identified her website as a "dangerous website" and wouldn't let me connect. (Kaspersky Internet Security).

This could be a lesson in Ignore what they say about not pasting in sample pages. If I had to do it over, I'd have sent her the first two pages. Scroll down for her personalized response:

You have a very impressive writing cv but I'll admit I'm just not drawn to the description of the novel. Perhaps I'm missing something but I'm having a hard time connecting. As I'm sure you know today's publishing climate is very unforgiving, and selling debut fiction is a real challenge. Wish my response were otherwise since always looking for new talent, but afraid I'm going to respectfully decline.
