Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.

And NEVER give money to an "agent".

Leave comments about your experiences with this literary agent, or read what other authors have to say.

Pt 2 of form rejection:
Please don’t give up or become discouraged. There are many opportunities out there. We want you to succeed even if it causes us to kick ourselves for letting you get away. Thank you for giving us a chance.

Sincerely, Jeffrey H. Herman

PS: I realize this might be a very late response. If so, I apologize for the unintended discourtesy. Perhaps you have landed a deal by now.

[I particularly like the PS--because it's only been a month since I queried him, and yes, I had indeed found an agent in the meantime!]

EQ 10/23
EReject 11/29 in a very nice form--which I'll have to post in two parts due to space limitations!

Your submission was reviewed and we decided not to represent it. This doesn’t mean it won’t be right for another agent or publishing house. Many successful books have been rejected many times for many reasons; sometimes poor decisions are made and my agency is no exception. Like all established agencies, we are only able to represent a small fraction of the many prospects we see.

Due to the large volume of submissions we receive, we cannot write a personal letter to you. Please understand we have not charged you anything. Our compensation is derived from the discovery and successful sale of written works. Therefore, our review and rejection process must be managed as efficiently as possible.

Rejected. But I think this guy is a guru when it comes to the world of publishing. He has a huge book with a listing of agents, which I found at the library and that's how I'd first heard of him. I just hope he actually read my query all the way through before he gave an answer.
