Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.

And NEVER give money to an "agent".

Leave comments about your experiences with this literary agent, or read what other authors have to say.

On 2/3/16, I've requeried Neeti Madan with Venom via snail mail. On 3/8/16, I've sent her a snail mail nudge. Since I've gotten no response to her via mail, she's CNR. I'll try her for CR's requery later this spring via snail mail.

I'm confused. She seems to reject most things but just appeared in N. Carolina to (apparently) drum up business. Why?

William, like Professor said, do online/email queries first and snail mail second. I think it's not proper netiquette for you to post in all caps--that indicates you're shouting!

"Too busy" is a polite not interested reply, not necessarily their current state of business. You can cut costs considerably by querying those who do email and leaving the snail agents for last.

RECEIVED A TOO BUSY LETTER, YET HER PROFILE ON AGENT QUERY STILL SHOWS ACCEPTING QUERIES. THIS IS THE SECOND ONE . I ALSO GOT ONE FROM ANOTHER AGENCY. I AM RURAL AND HAVE TO GO 25 MILES TO GET COPIES AND PAY 20 CENTS A COPY.IT IS ALSO 17 MILES TO THE NEAREST POST OFFICE. I WISH THESE AGENTS WOULD BE MORE CONSIDERATE OF OUR TIME AS WE ARE OF THEIRS

12/31/2012-mailed query
1/8/2013-form rejection in mail.

After looking at her clients, I can see why I am not the best fit.
Moving on...

10/23/12, I QUERIED Neeti with Chain Reaction. I've heard back today--she can't accept new material at this time. I'll try Laurie next month for CR.

Margie, I hear you. I've gotten the same postcard rejection too. And she's a new agent to Sterling Lord.

I was recommended by a client of hers, so I was surprised to receive an unsigned form postcard stating that she was no longer accepting new material. It seemed to have been sent almost immediately upon receiving my mailed packet of synopsis and first three chapters, as requested in her submission guidelines. It would be kind of her if she would state on her website that she wasn't taking new material, and save people the time and expense of mailing their manuscripts. My surprise was not that she rejected my ms, but that she sent such an impersonal rejection to someone who was recommended by her client.

You're welcome anytime Tim. I need some good luck this way for August and fall.
