Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.

And NEVER give money to an "agent".

raeanneparks, thanks for the info. I too, am getting tons of rejection letters for my YA paranormal romance and was beginning to see that a lot of us with paranormal were getting rejections too. This really helps! I am working on a NA suspense novel now and have pretty much given up on my paranormal works.

For those of you who submitted anything YA fantasy/paranormal, I have found the secret behind our failure (if you're in the same boat as me that's sinking fast). I have received several rejection letters, all telling me that it was because my manuscript wasn't their "cup of tea" and I finally got the guts to ask why. It turns out, the immediate pass is because paranormal YA is hard to sell and, like most business people, they are in it for the money. Which makes total sense. It's why our business is so hard and demanding and some of us are finding we have the worse of luck. I hope this helps those of you who are out there wondering why!
