Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.

And NEVER give money to an "agent".

Leave comments about your experiences with this literary agent, or read what other authors have to say.

I received the "Dear Author" rejection.

EQ linked story collection, based on pitch session at a writers' conference: July 25
Request for first 100 pages: July 25 (response came from Ms. Harris' assistant, Elizabeth Trout)
Request for full manuscript: August 25 (with a promise to get back with me in 2 weeks)
September 9 I received a rejection letter, but it was so kind and thoughtful. Clearly they had read the manuscript because she included details deep in the story, but they said they based their decision on the difficulty of selling story collections.

Disappointing -- I think this agent would be awesome to work with -- but I must say I've never been treated so well as a querying writer.

"Dear Author,

We have received and considered your submission. Unfortunately, we must be extremely selective in what we take on, and do not think we are the right agent for your work.

Please forgive the form letter — it is necessary given the large volume of submissions we receive. Thank you for thinking of our agency, and we sincerely wish you the best with your work.
