Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.

And NEVER give money to an "agent".

Ms. Somberg seems professional and caring. I received a quick request for the first five pages and a quick and thoughtful rejection ("doesn't sound like the best fit for my list at this time"). I had a hunch that my manuscript didn't fit her portfolio, but I queried her anyway because everyone here said she had been nice to them. Best of luck to y'all! I ended up having to resend because apparently I never hit the "send" button on the email and I found it in my drafts. :/ Welp, time to wait again.

Looking back at the query timeline, the people that sent around our time (late august) got responses in about 3 weeks, whereas several people that submitted in September had shorter waits. It's possible that she jumps around, and may get around to us soon. Personally, I will wait until I hit the 60 day mark to resend; that's well outside of her typical answering time and wouldn't seem unreasonable for a nudge or resend.

I also submitted late August (8/24) and haven't heard back even though others who queried after that have received rejections, etc. I am tempted to resend; wonder if there was a spam problem...

I queried on Sept 12th and haven't heard back. This has happened with at least 5 agents so far (who usually send out rejections). One agent said he was recently having more queries sent to spam than usual. I wonder if that's what's happening? I use a gmail account

Anyone else send a query at the end of August and not heard back?

Appreciate her timeliness and form letter was nicely worded, but it all means
the same thing. Not giving up, though!

EQ 8/17, got an autoreply that mentioned she was out of the office w limited email access so I probably caught her on vacation.
