Title: Special Announcement - QT Downtime
Post by: Patrick on September 02, 2016, 02:10:13 PM
I'll be migrating QueryTracker to a new server starting Saturday morning (Sept 3rd) and so both the main site and the forum will be unavailable during the transition. It may take most of the day. Sorry about any inconvenience and I hope to see you back on Sunday.

as long as it's up again by the 18th I'm good (teaching a class on how to use QT)

I'll be very upset if it isn't back up by Saturday evening.

A class on QT? Nice. You'll have to tell me more about that.

Thank you for the heads up!

I'm working tomorrow until Monday, so I won't be back here for a few days anyway.

Whoa! EVERYTHING is completely different! And for some reason, my computer is telling me this site isn't secure.

Here's what it says when I click on the red x'd lock next the red https that is also crossed out....

This page is insecure (broken HTTPS).
Certificate Error
There are issues with the site's certificate chain (net::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID).
View certificate
Secure TLS connection
The connection to this site is using a strong protocol version and cipher suite.
Mixed Content
The site includes HTTP resources.
View requests in Network Panel

ETA: and the time is way off. My post should show 1:21 am QT time, not 6:21 am.

ETA: and I should say, the first time I came here after the change, I got a warning mentioning that passwords, any banking info I might have on my computer, etc. were at risk.

It's been a weird transition for sure. Formatting should now be fixed. If not, please let me know. Still have to fix the clock.

The main site is still down for me. The forums are working fine.

Tabris, you may need to clear your browser cache. When you go to the main site, what do you see?

Some people have reported a computer reboot fixes it.

I tried with a different browser and it got through, otherwise I get the "if you're seeing this and you own the website, you need to do something" page. :-)

Jane, that's definitely a cache issue. First thing to try is this direct link:

https://querytracker.net/index.php (https://querytracker.net/index.php)

Sometimes a direct link can circumvent the cache.

If that doesn't work try rebooting. And if that doesn't work clear your browser cache.

Everything looks completely normal now.

It was just so weird last night. Everything was so plain, homemade-looking, no borders, the 'compose a reply space' was tiny, etc., etc., and whenever I clicked a forum or thread, it changed to purple, as if I'd done a google search and explored some of the links google presented.

As for the time, I meant to say it's normally 2 hrs. ahead of my time, not one. But last night it was several hours off. Today, the time difference is an hour, which is still off from what it was before the change, but hey, I don't mind.   :)

Yes, everything is finally getting back to normal. Still a few things out of whack on the back end, but nothing critical. Whew!

How did it go?

It was touch and go there for a bit, but in the end it all worked out.

That's good. I'm querying again. I can't have this going wonky. Thanks for looking out for me, Pat.

Yes, all about me :)

My friend runs a PB salon once a month and she asked me to come in to show people how to use QT to find agents so that's what i'll be doing!

It's been a bit since I've actually had to use QT for myself so i'll need to refamiliarize myself with everything.
But i'll also be telling them how the upgrade to the pro membership is totally worth it.

Sarah, there are some videos at https://querytracker.net/videos.php (https://querytracker.net/videos.php) that might help refresh your memory. Thank you for helping to spread the word.

I've received reports of some people still seeing "Internal Server Errors" from time to time. I made some adjustments that, I hope, will fix it. If anyone does see an Internal Server Error (or anything else) please let me know.

You'll know the Internal Server Error when you see it because it will be a plane white page with black text.

Thanks.

I've been having a lot of problems with that in the last hour. The message comes up when I go to post a reply to a thread. I get booted off the site, lose my reply, and it takes several tries to get back on. It happened again while trying to post a reply to this thread too, but this time, even after several tries, I couldn't get back on the site. I ended up restarting my computer, so if this shows up, then I guess the restart worked.

Yes, I saw that, too. I'm on the phone with them right now but I keep getting, "Well we don't see anything wrong."

Sorry about the trouble.

That's okay. At least it didn't happen to a long query critique I did early this morning. If I'd lost that, I might have cried a little.  ;D

They are going to pass the problem on to a higher entity at the company to determine the problem. I already told them what needs to be done to fix it, but they won't take my word for it.

A possible fix has been implemented. Please let me know if anyone sees this (or any) error again.

That internal error thingy occurred to me about five minutes ago (8:55 am cst FRi.). I logged onto a different site, futzed around a bit, and when I tried QT again, it went through.

Thanks jcwrites, and sorry. Back to the phone for me.

Got another server error. This time I caught a screen grab.

If you want the image, let me know and I'll try to attach it to a post. It's a tiff format; will that work?

I had the error a couple of times just in the last few minutes. I sent an email to the webmaster@querytracker.net address, so that will have the time on there. After that, I tried coming here again and I was able to get through, but then when I first went to post to this thread (2 minutes ago), as soon as I clicked on 'reply', I got booted off the site, got the error code, but was able to come right back and successfully post.

ETA: My email was rejected. Here's the message I got....

This message was created automatically by the mail system (*********).

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

>>> webmaster@querytracker.net (after RCPT TO): 550 No such person at this address

The good news is our host provider found the problem. Unfortunately it's gonna take another day of down time to get it fixed. I'll schedule it for either this weekend or next weekend, depending on how soon things can be ready. I'll let you know when I find out.
