Title: Looking to start a Fantasy, Science Fiction, YA and adult group
Post by: DMcWild on April 04, 2010, 12:19:58 AM
Hi,

Is anyone interested in starting a group for the above or similar genres.

Currently I'm editing a YA fantasy and have just (big on the just) started an urban fantasy. I believe my strengths are character building and world building.

Extremely creative at devising plot twists and turns and I write great dialog so I'm told. I'm weak on too many things to list (whats grammar)

Have a great sense of humor (so Captain Jack the  :pirate1: tells me) and I think our first meeting should be over coffee or drinks. (Kidding it was

starting to sound like a dating profile.)

Cheers,
Don

What are your plans for the group? I'm honestly not trying to interrogate you. I'm just curious.

My greatest weakness is dialog and I'm actively looking for some interested beta readers interested in reading my manuscript. Of course, I would read in kind.

Is your group a critique group?

Hi Ed,

Looking to start a small group, four to six people max. The ideal would to try to have a mix of people with various strength's who are interested in a few different genres.

Beta reading can be included and we would agree on some basic rules to help make the process work. The group would allow us to share ideas and help each other improve both our craft and manuscripts.

I'm hoping to keep it simple and easy for members to belong as I realize that most people are extremely busy.

Hope this is what your looking for,

Don

Hi Don,

I'm interested.  I'm currently querying a YA urban fantasy and am thinking of trying a middle grade fantasy.  Mostly, I write fantasy (I hate the real world).  Grammar is my thing.  I'm not sure what my other qualities are--maybe storytelling.

PM me when you get enough people (or--horrors--if you don't want me in your group).

*Grin*

I well keep you posted,

Thanks,
Don

I'd be interested in joining.  I feel I'm strong in plot, characters and maybe dialog.  But like Don said, what's grammer?  lol

Would love to be a beta reader and have my fantasy novel read as well.

Any questions just shoot me a PM!

Thanks,
Amanda

I'm interested DMC. I'll admit I'm only on my second manuscript. But I would love to join a dedicated writer's group for sci-fi/fantasy.

Sign me up and let me know the details.

Does this include Urban Fantasy? Is so, I'd be inclined to give it a go.

If not I think I may attempt to start one...

Is there room for one more?  I am in my first real rewrite of my YA Fantasy novel (60k or so) and would love to begin sharing with crit partners.

I don't know if I consider it my strength, but I have been told my dialog is "real" and that the overall story ideas are creative.  This from friends and family so: ??

Please let me know.

It looks like this group is filling up fast.  If there is room for one more I'd love to join.  I've already had Alniah critique some of my query and think she's great.  My real strength is spelling, grammar, and reliability.  I love critiqueing.  I just think its fun.  Hope there's room.
