Title: Congrats to the contest winners...
Post by: Kimmy on May 07, 2010, 09:07:47 AM
And I did have Chris on disregard for not wanting paranormal romance!  UGH!  I could have billed it as urban fantasy, had I used my BRAIN and checked out his page before entering!!!!

Urban fantasy and paranormal romance for adults are very different, Kimmy, and not interchangeable because they are targeted at different audiences.  With YA, the lines between these subgenres are a bit blurrier and agents who take one will usually consider the other because the audience is pretty much the same for both.

Yeah, I was told mine could be either but I consider it more paranormal romance because they meet, have issues, then end up together at the end.  More romance set up than UF like my next one which does not focus on romance.  OH well, onward...

Yup.  Thats why the lines are blurred between PR and UF.  It could fall under both.

I didn't realize he had so many submissions. Over 200? Wow.

Can't say though that his top choice was the one I liked the most. This is such a subjective industry!

Clutz, I totally agree!  I care NOT AT ALL for sports.  That one did nothing for me.  But it sure proves the point that the business is subjective and you just have to hit upon the right agent for your book!  Is that the same as finding a needle in a haystack??...
