Harris Literary Agency
« on: May 03, 2008, 12:40:04 AM »
I want to clear up some of my confusion here concerning the Harris Literary Agency.

I heard, especially through Preditors and Editors that the Harris Literary Agency is "not recommended", charging fees. My confusion is that according to their web site NOW...they do NOT charge fees. They have a sales record as well, so I'm wondering if the agency is going legit, or am I just crazy?

I know QueryTracker doesn't have this particular agency on file, but I wonder if we should revisit this...

The confusion comes from there being two agencies: Harris Literary and The Joy Harris Literary Agency.

Of the former, P&E says:
Quote
Harris Literary Agency: Charges fee. Not recommended. Also a Top Twenty worst according to Writer Beware. A literary agency and believed member of IILAA. Not to be confused with the Joy Harris Agency. Has professional sales in foreign countries. We found no record of US sales.

Of the latter (which is listed on QT), P&E says:
Quote
Joy Harris Agency: $ A literary agency. (Joy Harris: Literary, Adult, Dramatic)

One's perfectly legit, one not so much.

Repped!

Yep, I'm aware of the Joy Harris Literary Agency, but I am talking about Harris Literary. harrisliterary.com. It says right on the first page of their site that they don't charge reading fees or agency fees. Did they wise up or something?

they charge "printing fees".

...besides... why bother?  Unless we've burned through the other 1149 agencies on QT...

Thanks, Maryl!  I always use a Waterhouse.  I love his paintings.
