(It really bothers me that the code for that emoticon is rolf and not rofl.)
Perhaps it wouldn't bother you so much if you knew the reason behind it. That rolf emoticon was created by a French person and stands for Rolls on le fluer. When translating to English it was interpreted as Roar out Loud Funny. What most people don't know is that it actually stands for the latin - radix omne lorem fidus - which loosely translated means - I roll because I am too drunk to stand.
