Will an agent or publisher even consider a non-fiction book from someone who doesn't necessarily have a PhD in the subject and/or 10 pages of experience in the field? I have an interest in a particular historical event and have done extensive research but I don't bring any relevant credentials to the table except a passion for the subject. Will agents immediately press the delete button after their laughter subsides or is there a chance they might consider my proposal?

Your battle may be tougher, but exceptional writing always garners attention.

I suspect a platform will help you greatly in landing an agent and a sale, but I certainly don't think you need to have a PhD or anything like that

Thank you. It's been frustrating. The funny thing is I do, indeed, have a PhD but it's not in the field I'm researching. Again, thank you for your help.
