Picture of Me and one of the Twins (Chloe)

« on: December 21, 2016, 11:10:53 AM »

just came across them through a mutual friend of my wife.   they are a small press that seems to have been in business for about 2 years so far, but everything feels real off about them.

the person in question who works with them has a book out or coming out with them, but there is no mention of that person on their webpage.  As well she says they signed her for a 5 book deal, but she isn't getting an advance on any of them?  IDK seems super fishy to me.

I know I'm probably not going to submit to them but I wanted to know if anyone has expirience with them, or if my fears are unfounded.

From their website: We produce your ebooks and beautiful printed books GLOBALLY with full WORLD WIDE DISTRIBUTION and with every available option to get your work into bookstores.

How? How do they claim full world wide distribution, out of curiosity? They don't list a distributor, in the first place.

There are other things of note, but I think it's safe to say the entire site is a red flag. It sounds like people who want to know what they're doing but unfortunately don't?

I'm always intrigued when I see a home page that solicits writers, rather than selling books.

And I'm with B, the promise of worldwide distribution seems over the top. For a company (apparently) so new and so small, they should conquer their own country first.

this is exactly what i thought when I saw it.

Basically the person who told me she had a deal with them claims she has a 4 book contract, which also raised a flag for me because i was under the impression that kind of things wasn't common practice anymore.

Either way I'll touch base with her from time to time and see what is going on, maybe I can find a silver lining to the company after all?

On their submissions page, one of the questions says "Tell us about your PROTAGONIST (your bad guy :-)"

Wrong term. Smiley face. Missing second parentheses because of smiley face.

Run away.

Also, single spaced submissions? Really?

A three-book series would be much more common.
