I've lurked on this site for years now and use QueryTracker. After the abysmal disaster of my last query and novel — a zero request rate — I've decided I definitely need some second opinions. Strange. My first novel got a huge request rate, but failed to land me an agent. The second tanked like Trump trying to be demure. Trump supporters please don't throw stones. I've been punished enough. Hasn't everyone last year?

Beforehand, I wrote realistic fiction. But I've decided to return to my old love — Fantasy. I can hear her calling me with her sweet, siren song. "Stupid. Said your sorry ass would be back soon. Now shut up and make me a sandwich." Seems strange in hindsight, but fantasy is what I've always read, watched, and played damn-near all my life. Why I avoided writing it until now is beyond me. Ah . . . taking the long road 'round . . . like a dumbass. But these last years have provided me with that thick skin everyone preaches about.

Talk about a lesson in humility. . . .

Regardless, I hope I can help my peers here with their queries or otherwise. I'm still writing my current novel, but if it's successful, God, please let this one be successful, I promise to stick around and continue to help when I can.

Seems only fair. Now please excuse me. I have to make someone a sandwich.

hello and welcome.

I'min the same boat as you as far as reading tastes versus what i have been writing.

I read Sci-fi and fantasy for so long I was sure that was what I would write, but when i finally got down to writing a contemporary teen romance came out.  go figure.  I'm currently working on an Urban Fantasy as well as a time travel/portal styled/multiverse sci-fi type thing too... and then I have a couple ideas in horror as well.  it's like everytime I get an .....  is that a shiny penny?
