Picture of Me and one of the Twins (Chloe)

« on: January 12, 2017, 11:23:54 AM »

IDK I might be over thinking this but I was wondering,  What exactly is the diference between a Memoir, and an Autobiography?

I've toyed with the idea of writing something about my life for a while (So many unusual things have happened to me) but I've always shied away from it because I figured that I wasn't interesting enough, or hadn't done something worth anyone caring about my story.  Now I'm sitting back and I figure, why the hell wouldn't I write something like that.

I've always though of an autobiography as moreof a factual account while a memoir is more anecdotal, is that correct?

Just the weird things I think about when I'm procrastinating.

I've seen more than one definition, depending on who you ask.

An autobiography essentially covers your whole life, while a memoir might only cover a limited time such as your career in the movie business.

An autobiography is generally straight information, while a memoir includes "this is what I learned."

that's what I was generally thinking, and if that's the case I guess i would be writing more of a memoir than an autobiography.

hell, I might even twist it up and make it fiction inspired by a true story just to up the voice.
